The Dynamics of Board/Superintendent Relations
By participating in this 4.0 hour workshopdeveloped by the West Virginia School Boards Association based on several years researchcounty boards and superintendents will discover what constitutes an effective board/superintendent relationship. There are no magic formulas. Rather, the notion concerns an escalated span of executive expectations; elevated degrees of decisionmaking latitude by the superintendent; an increased commitment to accountability by the board and superintendent; and a heightened emphasis on positional performance by the board and superintendent. I first heard about this notion at a Regional Service Agency V meeting, and I was really struck by the novel approach...county superintendent.

Board Evaluation: A Primer

Once the instrument is chosen, county board members then complete the document. In a subsequent workshop (called a feedback session), the board receives the results of its evaluation and develops an action or improvement plan in relation to five or so objectives the board wishes to address in regard to its evaluation. The total workshop time is 5.0 hours. WVSBA really helped us out here. Wed neglected this most important area of governance.county board president.
