
Committee on Legislation: Established by WVSBA in 1982, this committee determines the Associations Legislative Priorities and Legislative Philosophies and develops legislative initiatives and strategies.
Two full-time lobbyists:Howard M. OCull, Ed.D., WVSBA Executive Director, and Jason B. Keeling, WVSBA Executive Assistant.
Effective Legislative Representation: The Association is represented year-round by its lobbyists, who attend all relevant interim and regular session meetings of the Legislature relating to education.
WVSBA Winter Conference: This well-attended midyear conference devotes significant attention to legislative activity and progress in terms of the Associations Legislative Priorities and Legislative Philosophies.
WVSBA Legislative Report Card: Keeps members informed about session progress and successes, including legislative goals achieved.
The Legislature: This publication covers the events of the regular and interim sessions of the state Legislature, respectively, providing members with the most current information in the state regarding educational legislation.
Effective Relations with W.Va. Board of Education: The WVSBA staff is developing an SBE Policy Alert so members can remain informed about state board deliberations and can comment on pending SBE policies.
Federal Relations Network: Members participate in the National School Boards Associations Federal Relations Network (FRN) program.
